Traffic park visit must for school safety clubs


CHENNAI: A visit to the new traffic park near Anna Square on the Marina beach will be made mandatory for members of road safety clubs of all schools in the city, said transport and road safety commissioner C Samayamoorthy on Thursday. 

The park, constructed at Rs 2.06cr and set to be inaugurated later this month, has a conference room with audio-video facility for which Greater Chennai corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Honda India. “Students and others will be educated about traffic rules and regulations at the part where a simulator to learn driving will be set up. Nearly 10 bicyles and a 50cc non-gear motorbike will also be placed,” said corporation deputy commissioner (works) M Govind Rao.

HRD Ministry to grade states on quality of school education



"The idea is not to rank the states but grade their performance as ranking may bring unhealthy competition. Grading will help motivate more states to adopt structural reforms in school education," a source in the ministry said

Students to answer roll call with ‘Jai Hind’ in schools of Satna district

"We have also sent an advisory to private schools affiliated to the MP Board of Secondary Education that they may hoist the national flag daily," the minister added.

To foster “patriotism”, students at government schools in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh would be instructed to answer the daily roll call with ‘Jai Hind’ from the next month. “Students say ‘yes sir’ or ‘yes madam’ or ‘present’ during the roll call. What good do these English acknowledgements achieve? I have asked the principals of government schools in Satna to direct the students to say ‘Jai Hind’ from October 1,” School Education Minister Vijay Shah told PTI today.

In order to apply for approval of a program of education, an official from the school that is authorized to commit the school to an agreement with the VA should complete and submit VA Form 22-0976, Application for Approval of a Program in a Foreign Country. The VA will evaluate the information and provide the school official with an approval determination on the program of education.
NOTE: Independent study (distance learning) courses must be accredited by a national agency or association recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education. Also, in order to be approved, a course offered in a foreign country must lead to a standard college degree or its equivalent.

Bhubaneswar: Kendriya Vidyalaya school gets a notice for holding classes during summer vacation


A notice was issued on Thursday by the school saying that "All the classes will remain suspended up to June 25 as per the notification of the government of Odisha due to the prevailing heat wave."

The Odisha government has issued a showcause notice to Kendriya Vidyalaya- 1 in Bhubaneswar for holding classes during summer vacation.
The school principal has been asked to explain and respond within three days to the notice issued by Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Thursday which said, "It has come to the notice of the government that in utter violation of the above direction of the state government, your school continues to hold classes. As a result, young children have been compelled to travel in severe hot and humid conditions and attend classes in such situation. This might have serious implications on the life and health conditions of the students and others. If failed, action shall be taken against the school authorities."

Govt sends derecognition notice to private school

The Delhi government on Wednesday sent a derecognition notice to a private school for violating norms related to the EWS/DG category. It also ordered two other private schools to roll back “arbitrary fee hike”.
The move came after parents of the children attending the schools met and complained to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Show-cause notice to KV school for flouting Odisha govt order to extend summer vacation

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had earlier ordered extension of the summer vacation in schools till June 25 in view of the prevailing heat wave condition. They were asked to reopen on June 26.

Odisha government on Thursday issued a show cause notice to the authorities of a Kendriya Vidyalaya school here for allegedly flouting its order to extend summer vacation due to the ongoing heat wave condition in the state.
Special Relief Commissioner(SRC) B P Sethi issued the notice to the principal of KV-1 school after receiving information that the central government institution had reopened despite the state government’s order to extend the summer vacation till June 25 due to the heat wave condition.

Allahabad High Court sends notice to CBSE, ICSE on school fees fixing in private schools


Allahabad High Court has sent notices to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) instructing them to file their response on a PIL seeking to regulate exorbitant fees charged by self-financed private schools.

The High Court has sought the response from the boards within four weeks and more than that. A bench of justices Vikram Nath and Abdul Moin passed the order on the PIL filed by Laik Ahmad.
